This oil is a lightweight moisturizer, rich in vitamins A, C, and E, as well as Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids. Known for its ability to soothe conditions like eczema and psoriasis, it deeply conditions the skin without feeling heavy. Its light molecular structure makes it ideal for sensitive skin, as it provides essential nourishment without clogging pores.
Rosehip oil features a higher viscosity due to its rich concentration of essential fatty acids specifically linoleic and linolenic acid. These nutrients make an exceptional choice for mature skin and hair, as they strengthen the barrier and significantly reduce water loss. Additionally, its potent fatty acid profile helps fight inflammation and promotes a healthy hydrated complexion.
Aloe vera gel is rich in Vitamin A, C, E, and B-12 making it a powerhouse to soothe sun burns, hydrate dry skin, and aid in healing minor cuts and burns. Aloe vera oil can be produced by macerating aloe vera pulp in a carrier oil. While some methods use heat, high-quality nutrient-rich oil is often made via a cold infusion process. This is crucial, as many of the nutrients begin to degrade at temperatures as low as 100 F. When purchasing, always READ the label to identify potential allergens and ensure that you are comfortable with the carrier oils used- such as Jojoba, Coconut, Sweet Almond, and Olive oil. Be mindful that some carrier oils have a distinct natural odor, while some distributors may use lower-quality options like Soybean oil.
Amla oil comes from the fruit of the Indian Gooseberry tree. It features a potent blend of Vitamins C, A, and E, along with essential minerals like Iron, Calcium, and Magnesium making it an excellent choice for both hair and skin health. This oil is typically processed by seeping the dried Amla fruit in a carrier oil. When purchasing, be sure to read the label carefully to understand which carrier oil was used and to ensure you are getting a high-quality product.

1) Watch Me Nae Nae (Body/Hair oil)
Does there have to be a difference? No, a hair oil does not have to be thick and greasy to be nourishing. In fact, the smaller the molecules, the easier it is to penetrate the shaft of the hair. My Hair and Body oil "Watch me Nea Nea" is a lovely blend naturally scented by Apples, Apricots and Bananas.
2) Las Nubes (Fluffy Body Cream)
Mature skin doesn't always want to be buried under a blanket of butter
-although that sounds wonderful sometimes.
Other times it wants to walk in the clouds. Las Nubes is a fluffy body cream made of a blend of oils and butters like: Sal Butter, Mango Butter, Cocoa Butter, Safflower Oil, Avocado Oil, and Coconut Oil just to name a few. Leaving the skin feeling decadent and adored.
3) Jiffy Pop My Skin (Creamy Lotion)
A wonderfully creamy lotion, elegantly formulated to feel full bodied and nourishing on the skin without the greasy residue.
4) Luz (Lotion)
This was created with Summer in mind. this is my lightest Formulation. It delivers intense moisture and locks it in quickly, leaving a soft protective layer that keeps your skin feeling hydrated without the heaviness- perfect for warm, sticky days.
With so many wonderful Formulations it's hard to stop here.
5) Chewy Glue (Hair Cream)
Every Mother has a Baby, and we want to give them the world. This formulation was originally created for my children and, over time it, came to be loved by my entire family. We have many different races and hair types, and this cream has worked beautifully for all of us.
This hair cream is designed for coarse to fine hair. Whether you're setting your curls, holding your wave, or simply adding a rich moisturizer, Chewy Glue does them all without drying your hair out or leaving it crunchy.
Use more for firmer curls or less for loose curls that won't frizz.
The sun is shining; the wind is blowing, but you're not Glowing. Wanna get that beautiful Sunkist glow back to your skin. Get ready for summer with this easy protection tutorial. Skin is the largest organ your body contains and like any other organ it needs water and nourishment. So, here are 4 easy tips:
1) Start with a healthy diet, rich in vitamins and minerals.
2) Don't forget to hydrate, skin that lacks the necessary moisture is significantly more susceptible to sun damage.
3) Moisturize your skin. For most types of skin, sunblock alone does not contain the needed moisture to keep skin hydrated.
4) Perhaps the most overlooked, don't forget to reapply. Yes sunblock, but moisturizer too. As the sun shines and the wind blows, moisture is naturally wicked away from our skin. Lotions and creams act as a protective moisture barrier, significantly reducing water loss despite the elements.
1) Is your shower too hot?
Hot water although it may feel nice on extra cold days, strips your skin of natural oils, leading to irritation, itching, severe dryness, and can worsen skin conditions. In addition, it damages Keratin cells in the hair, leaving it brittle, dry, and causes the color to fade.
2)Do you use an oil moisturizer OR a lotion/cream?
Did you know that they are supposed to be used together? Facial oils are most effective when the pores are open and most at risk of transepidermal water loss. Apply oils after washing, while the skin is still damp. This timing allows light oils to lock in moisture before evaporation. However, since these oils quickly absorb, the skin can eventually feel dry and dehydrated. To prevent this, follow up with a lotion or cream; this creates a final protective barrier that seals in the water and oil. This is known as the sandwiching or layering method. This method aids in long-lasting deep hydration.
3)Do you touch your face?
While touching the face is a common cultural expression of emotion, it is also a primary way to spread bacteria. Even if you avoid direct contact to protect your makeup, germs can still reach your skin through secondary sources. Cell phones, eyeglasses, and makeup brushes often harbor invisible contaminants. Maintaining hygiene for these frequently used items is just as critical as washing your hands to keep your skin clear and healthy.
Want to give your hair some TLC? Try these easy tips with natural ingredients for healthy, shiny locks.
1) Give your hair a day off. Choose at least one day every week that is committed to no heat, chemicals or washing. Your hair produces natural moisture and shampooing everyday strips those oils leading to breakage, dandruff, and the over production of oils.
2) Take time to Pamper yourself whenever you need it. Chose a lightweight oil you prefer and massage it into your scalp before bed. This tender massage stimulates blood flow to the hair follicles and works the oils into the scalp. Remember your scalp is skin too, it deserves a little moisture.
3) If you're struggling with low porosity, learn the delicate dance of Your Hair Care. Be patient it may take some time to learn the steps, but the effort is worth it. Avoid wetting your hair if it does not need to be washed. When washing use warm water to encourage the cuticles to open. Once open start with small amounts of low viscosity oils until you learn your hair's absorption rate. This will reduce the risk of product build up.

Many Years ago, I remember sitting in a nice restaurant, feeling a little trepidatious about my many allergies. As I explained the list to the waitress, I finished by saying, "Please forgive me. I guess I'm just a little Bougie."
The older woman removed her glasses and placed them on the top of her head. With a curt look on her face and one hand on her hip, she asked me bluntly if I could afford my meal.
Struggling to hide the irritation on my face, I politely responded, "Yes, Ma'am."
She replaced her glasses to her face, smiling at me over them and said, "Then Miss, you're not Bougie- you're Particular. And if you can afford your meal, you can afford to be Particular." That moment changed my life forever. Why haven't I required better out of the products I was purchasing?
From that day forward, I have chosen to be more Particular about what I buy. I read the labels and ask questions. The more we require out of companies, the more they will rise to the expectation.
I hope that Mentecata Cosmetics inspires you to be more Particular too.
